Body Works Qigong – Six Workshops Over Six Weeks

Week 1 (Sunday 7th of Feb 9am to 12 noon):

 

Working with the breath, body & mind

 

•         Discussion: Understanding Health 1

(What is qigong?; The three regulators of qi; the role of the nervous system).

•         Qigong Practices - Embracing the Tree & Ba Duan Jin form

(working with breath, body & mind).

•         Chinese Self Massage

(acupressure, tapping, 12 meridian reset).

 

Week 2 (Sunday 21st of Feb 9am to 12 noon):

 

You are only as old as your spine

•         Qigong Practice: Embracing the Tree

(Allowing the nervous system to reset, getting to know your monkey mind)

•         Discussion: Understanding Health 2

(DisEASE, working with the body to heal; e-motion; you are as old as your spine; excess & deficiency).

•         Qigong Practice: Opening the Nine Gates

(Chinese self abdominal massage for releasing stuck tensions and emotions)

•         Dao Yin Practice: Dao Yin of the Spine

(Developing awareness and mobility in the spine and pelvis)

•         Chinese Self Massage

(acupressure, tapping, 12 meridian reset).

 

Week 3 (Sunday 28st of Feb 9am to 12 noon):

 

Youth is a gift, aging is an art

 

•         Qigong Practice: Embracing the Tree

(The five postures)

•         Discussion: Understanding Health 3

(The six levels of healing, symptom based treatment versus root cause based treatment).

•         Discussion: Seated Meditation Posture

(Creating stability & safety in the posture)

•         Qigong Practice: Silk Reeling & Walking Meditation

(Yin & Yang, connecting movement to the earth & using the structure of the body to move with ease and harmony)

•         Qigong Practice: Seated Meditation

(Allowing and observing)

•         Chinese Self Massage

(acupressure, tapping, 12 meridian reset).

Week 4 (Sunday 7th of Feb 9am to 12 noon):

 

Releasing Tensions to the Earth

•         Qigong Practice: Embracing the Tree

(Yin & yang, eating bitter)

•         Discussion: Understanding Health 4

(Symptoms Vs. root cause recap, excess & deficiency review, obstacles in practice, the healing crisis).

•         Qigong Practice: The Eight Extraordinary Vessels

(releasing stuck tensions, shining a light on blind-spots in the body)

•         Chinese Self Massage

(acupressure, tapping, 12 meridian reset).

  

Week 5 (Sunday 14th of Mar 9am to 12 noon):

 

The inter-connectedness of the body & beyond

 

•         Qigong Practice: Embracing the Tree

(Ten thousand times)

•         Discussion: Understanding Health 5

(Discussion on Qi, five element theory, looking after the 5 organs and 6 viscera).

•         Dao Yin Practice: Dao Yin of the Meridians

(emotional balancing through gentle stretching, sounds and directing awareness)

•         Chinese Self Meridian Massage

(a new self massage that follows the 12 meridians using a bean bag).

 

Week 6 (Sunday 21th of Mar 9am to 12 noon):

 

Nourishment and the body

 

•         Qigong Practice: Embracing the Tree

(Ten thousand times)

•         Discussion: Understanding Health 5

(Nourishment, food lenses, alkaline vs. acidic).

•         Cleansing Techniques: The Seven Excretory Organs

(practices to help your body clear waste and heal)

•         Cleansing Practices: Healing Qigong

(Opening the Joints, Bouncing, Nine Gate Abdominal Massage, Meridian Stretching)

•         Lymphatic Self Massage

(An easy and fun massage to do by yourself or with a partner).
